  In today’s “see something, say something” society, 911 calls over non-crimes are a common thing. When it comes to black people, these calls move from common to outright offensive and often times lead to deprivation of rights, or worse. Five Georgia kids learned this the hard way this week when they were held at gunpoint for simply being kids. A frightened store owner in Jonesboro called police on Monday and told them that five kids were in his parking lot — with a gun. After police responded to the scene, all hell broke loose. When the officer arrived, all of the children, one reportedly just 10-years-old, were held at gunpoint for playing. The resultant interaction was captured on a bystander’s cellphone video. It is nothing short of heart-wrenching. The woman filming is in tears asking why the cop is holding the children at gunpoint. Glenn Goss Jr. is the son of the former chief of police for the Rossford Police Department in Ohio. He is also a police officer. Having his daddy as the man in charge apparently taught him that he could get away with abusing the system to stalk women, and so far, he’s right. Goss admitted to the crime — via Facebook messenger — to his victim, and he’s yet to be arrested or fired. Goss Jr. is the son of Glenn Goss Sr., the former Rossford Police Chief who stepped down in 2018 and who said stepping down was “directly related to my son working here.” Did he know his son was a potential stalker and didn’t want to be in charge when this blew up? Possibly. Though his dad is no longer the chief, according to the department’s roster, he is still an officer. A question we ask often here at the Free Thought Project is this: when a cop commits a crime against you,  where do you report it?  The only place you can report a crime is to law enforcement, so you have no other choice but to walk inside the belly of the beast who hurt you and report their crime to his or her brothers in blue. As the following case illustrates, this is problematic for many reasons and can turn innocent victims into falsely accused criminals in an instant. Chicago Transit Authority supervisor, Martesa Lee was assaulted by a Chicago police officer while doing her job on the Red Line platform earlier this year. So, she took the only option available to her to report it and went to the officer’s supervisor to lodge a complaint. Instead of taking her complaint, however, the police told her to get lost or get arrested.
