A cop shoots a woman through a window as she was playing video games with her nephew, prompting a lawsuit.

Atatiana Jefferson, 28, was killed by a prowler in her own home. Fort Worth police officer Aaron Dean was charged with her murder. Jefferson's sister has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the City of Fort Worth, Mayor Betsy Price, former police chief Ed Kraus, and former officer Dean. It has been over a year since Dean murdered Jefferson and there hasn't even been a trial date set for the case. The suit says the city of Fort Worth "knew or should have known that Defendant Aaron Dean exhibited a pattern of escalating encounters with the public" and failed to adequately train or supervise police officers.

The city says they are going to have to determine the actual executor of Jefferson's estate before moving forward with the lawsuit. The Probate Court has appointed an Attorney Ad Litem to determine heirs and will appoint an executor, who is the appropriate person to file suit, once all heirs have been determined, according to the city's statement. The case is still in the process of being resolved. Amber Guyger was found guilty of killing a 26-year-old neighbor in Fort Worth, Texas, on Friday.
